Kae West is a Dutch cinematic progressive project founded in 2022 by singer-songwriter Korine Varekamp. The project evolved from over a decade of songwriting under the name Kae, gradually developing into a full-band format where atmosphere, dynamics and emotional depth take center stage.
Korine writes all lyrics and melodies herself. Her voice moves between restraint and intensity, expressive without excess, intimate yet commanding. Rather than focusing on technical display, Kae West builds songs around tension, release and narrative flow.
Musically, the project blends progressive structures with alternative and atmospheric influences. The result is music that unfolds gradually: layered arrangements, dynamic contrasts and moments of expansive guitar work that emphasize feeling over virtuosity.
The debut album Arrival (2026) was produced by Red Pack Productions (NL) and mastered at Fascination Street Studios (SE). Across eleven tracks, the record explores themes of love, tolerance and navigating an increasingly complex world, balancing progressive ambition with human vulnerability.
A key track, the seven-minute “Phenomenon,” builds patiently toward an emotionally charged guitar climax, while songs such as “Alert The Media,” “Bigotry” and “The Sparkle” reveal the project’s dynamic and thematic range.
Live, Kae West performs as a full band using an in-ear monitoring system and a streamlined technical setup, allowing for carefully shaped dynamics and immersive sound. Performances are conceived as cohesive experiences rather than loose collections of songs, making the band particularly suited to theatre environments, seated venues and selected support slots where atmosphere and attention matter.
With Arrival, Kae West presents a mature and evolving voice within contemporary atmospheric progressive music, grounded, deliberate and committed to creating meaningful live experiences.
